Having healthy boundaries also provides safety and security, so can be very helpful for nervous, anxious, reactive and “aggressive” animals. Boundaries outline the foundation for how you want other people to treat you. They ensure a sense of mutual respect and limit the likelihood of people taking advantage of you. Boundaries honor your own need for self-care and personal integrity and ensure you don’t compromise yourself for others.
